SEI Certification Program Achieves ANSI Accreditation
Arlington, VA....The Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) is pleased to announce that its certification programs for safety and protective equipment have been accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The prestigious ANSI accreditation affirms that SEI's certification program complies with ten international guides pertaining to testing, inspection and certification.
SEI's accreditation was accomplished through a rigorous one-year application and auditing process conducted in accordance with ANSI policies and utilization of the ANSI Standard, Z34.1 - 1993, Third-Party Certification Programs for Products, Processes and Services. "The achievement of the ANSI accreditation signifies SEI's commitment to providing the best possible certification services to assist the safety industry in protecting those who use safety and protective equipment on and off the job," said Jim E. Lapping, Chairman and CEO of SEI. "It is particularly gratifying to achieve the ANSI accreditation during the year of SEI's 15 year anniversary," added Lapping.
ANSI is a nationally recognized organization that accredits third-party certification organizations. Once an organization's certification program is accredited by ANSI, the organization must agree to periodic monitoring, audits and surveillance of the program, at least annually to maintain the ANSI accreditation.
SEI's certification programs include the following product areas: (1) hard hats; (2) protective eye wear including spectacles, goggles and face shields; (3) emergency eyewash and safety showers; (4) fire fighter helmets; (5) gas detector tube units; (6) limited-use and disposable coveralls; (7) life safety rope; (8) personal alert safety (PASS) devices; (9) chemical and fire fighting protective clothing (including suits, boots, gloves and helmets); (10) SCBA for fire fighters; (11) EMS protective clothing; (12) bicycle helmets; and (13) equestrian helmets.
